"Ring" or "Knock" ? --- "Once" or "twice" ?
by JH inin the field service, i never rang the door bell.
i would knock all the time, because a person could be working midnight to eight and i could wake them up.
ok, the real reason was that i didn't want them to answer the door.. and i would knock like this: "knock knock knock".......then i'd wait about 30 seconds and then another "knock knock knock" but not any harder...and i'd walk away with contentment.

Best Concert you ever went to!!!
by purplesofa inim listening to moody blues right now, remembering a concert i went to of theirs in the early 90's when i lived in missouri.
it was by far the best concert i even have been to....they are not my favorite group but i do like them.
i wish i could bottle that night up and bring it out to play again and again.

I haven't been to that many concerts but I'd have to say seeing the Rolling Stones a couple of years ago was my favorite so far. Yeah, I rented the binocs and with the roll out stage, I was right there on stage with 'em. Having said that, a huge kick for me is watching the crowd and where in the world are you going to find a more diverse throng than at a Stones concert. That is a show in and of itself!

How does WT treat illegal Mexican immigrant JWs?
by skeeter1 inhow does the wt treat illegal mexicans who are also jehovah's witnesses?
if the mexican was a publisher or pioneer in mexico, does the society allow them to be full, fledged publishers or pioneers here in the united states?

Thanks Nvr. I often miss the point and leapfrog onto something else. It's an old habit.

Psycho Debate: Samson Versus Paul
by VoidEater inwe all know samson's superhuman powers went away when his long hair got cut (as i understand it, he followed a god-approved faction that disallowed his cutting his hair).. we all know paul told us how unnatural it is for a man to have long hair ("nature itself" tells us).. did god change his mind?
what should a male do with his hair - cut it short, or wear it long?.

I thought Samson's strength came from steroid use. Would make headlines these days.

Are not persons that become legal US citizens required to take an oath of allegiance to the US? Would that not make an illegal JW eligible for due process of a WT judicial committee? Or is this just one of those little inconveniences that pop up now and then that have to be covered over? I see on wikipedia that the wording of the oath has not always been the same but that allegiance to the US is a constant. I've wondered this before but never asked anyone.

Nostalgic for your first computer?
by AlmostAtheist ini just read a piece on cnn about the commodore 64. apparently it is what hundreds of thousands of people (the article says "millions" -- really?
millions?
) look back on as their very first real computer.

My first computer was a TI99/4A also. Followed closely by a Radio Shack Color Computer 2. What I learned was a bit about programming that was useful for awhile. Entertaining at least. What I should have gotten from it was that there is ALWAYS something more needed to attempt to get a computer to be able to DO something! That took awhile to really sink in though.
Now with the Vista HELL that has been put on us, I am sorry I ever even started down this road. I WANT to do video editing. To attempt to get programs to actually RUN you have to be one hell of a diagnostitian and spend hours and hours and hours NOT doing what you WANT to do. I'm really hating computers these days.
I would try an iMac but somehow I think I'd be very disappointed there too. I was when I tried to see what their editing program looked like at a computer store. Two machines failed to launch iMovie. Basically, iQuit. -

JW's in Coffee Shop Using ME as a Lesson to their Children
by Good Girl or Bad Girl? ini am sort of shocked and wonder if i pulled this same kind of sh*t as a witness.
i already know jw's believe they are better than everyone else, what with being god's only chosen people and all that.. well, i am sitting at my table, minding my own business.
there is a group of six jw's at the next table, three adults, three kids.

Perhaps the stickers were not the offenders. Maybe, just maybe, it was ... the evil LAPTOP itself? I mean, -whispers- those are the tools to connect directly to Satan's internet. Just a thought.

The problem with the name Coleman is that you'd be forever confused with Gary Coleman. Decidedly not cool.
I'm afraid you'll have to stick with Igloo. :) -
